NORMANDY - DAY 2

A cultural morning: we visited a goat’s cheese farm. Much petting was done, many new friends were made (one or two “best friends” apparently) and a few things were learned about the goat farming and cheesemaking process. The cultured palates of young Latymerians meant that much cheese was bought; some to be consumed on the spot and some to take home.

Running short on time, we made a swifter path along the cliff tops, still getting an amazing view of the beautiful Suisse-Normande landscape on a bright clear day. The sun stayed with us as we made our way to the beach.

The first time Normandy Adventure has done land yachting; this was certainly a success and one to repeat! Fair winds brought us great racing speeds: the students haring up and down the beach. In fact, because we had arrived late and so much fun was had by one and all (despite sand getting everywhere!) we decided to forgo the cave visit in favour of spending more time land yachting. Ice creams were enjoyed before heading back to the farmhouse. A couple of students (and staff) may have to be a little more careful in the application of sun cream if the weather stays this nice.

Scrumptious turkey escalopes and chips, followed by crème brulee were consumed hungrily, and then Mr Gilbert gave a short talk on the D-Day invasion in preparation for our “History Day” tomorrow: The Bayeux Tapestry in the morning, following by an afternoon at Arromanches.
