Provence Day 4

Today we spent the morning at the Pont du Gard, taking a look in their museum before exploring the site. We stopped for an ice cream (obviously) before heading on to the beautiful town of Uzes for lunch and some shopping.

We then went to the Haribo Museum & bought up roughly half the shop! Then back to the hotel for a final swim, some packing up, dinner and the England game.

We’ll be back in London tomorrow afternoon, very tanned and full of sugar!

Provence Day 2

We began the day in Arles, where we visited the Baths of Constantine, followed by a quick ice cream stop by the famous “Yellow House” where Van Gogh stayed, then on to the Roman Theatre, where we put on our very own (and very true to the original) performance of Euripides’ “The Bacchae”.

We had lunch in Arles before moving to Saint-Rémy de Provence, where we went on a Van Gogh walking tour, and finishing off by visiting “Les Antiques”, the Mausoleum & triumphal arch outside Glanum.

Then it was back to the hotel for a swim, dinner and followed up with our quiz!

We did very well to cope in the 36 degree heat and are ready to tackle Uzes tomorrow.

Provence Day 1

We arrived safely yesterday after a very long train journey, and we started our tour of Provence. We started by visiting the Maison Carree, followed by the Roman amphitheatre.

We stopped for lunch before scaling the Tour Magne and looking out over the city. Next we visited the Temple of Diana, then headed back to the hotel for a well-deserved dip in the pool (it is well over 30 degrees here!).

Provence Day 4

Today we visited the Pont du Gard, a bridge and part of a Roman aqueduct. We had an ice cream before travelling to Uzes, to have lunch and pick up some souvenirs.

We then made our final (& arguably most important!) stop of the trip at the Haribo Factory and filling our bags with sweets!

We returned to the hotel for a swim, dinner and packing up, ready to head back to London tomorrow morning.

Provence Day 3

Today we visited Arles, taking in the Baths of Constantine, Roman theatre and amphitheatre, and Van Gogh's garden (along with some ice cream!).

We then headed to the Archaeological Museum, before exploring Glanum, an ancient town described as "France's Pompeii".

We are now back at the hotel and preparing for the annual Sixth Form Quiz Night - let the games begin!

Provence Day 2

Today we explored Nimes, beginning the day with a short film in the Maison Carre, one of the best preserved Roman temples. We then walked to the town's amphitheatre and looked at all the types of gladiator who would have fought there.

After lunch, we visited the Tour Magne, the largest and only remaining tower from the ancient city walls, followed by ice cream and a return to the hotel for a swim and dinner.

Provence - Day 1

We spent the whole day travelling and safely managed to navigate French public transport to arrive all in one piece in Provence!
Our only activities today were unpacking and dinner, but we've got a very busy day ahead tomorrow and so are settling in for an early night. Photos to come tomorrow!

Provence Final Day

We spent the final day at the Pont du Gard, an enormous Roman bridge and aqueduct, which we were able to cross the top of. We then headed to the little town of Uzes to buy our souvenirs before heading to the Haribo museum. We're not quite sure if the shop will cope after Latymer descended upon it! We finished the day with a swim at the hotel and watching the football before packing ready for our journey home tomorrow.

Provence - Day 3

Today we visited Arles and spent time at the Baths of Constantine, a theatre and amphitheatre. After ice cream and a visit to Van Gogh's 'asylum garden', we travelled to Arles' archaeological museum and then visited Glanum, which was settled on by Gauls, Greeks and also Romans.

We then headed back to the hotel for a swim and a quiz specially created by the Lower Sixth!

Looking forward to our final day in the sun before travelling home.

Provence Day 2

We managed to recover from yesterday's football results and head into Nimes. We started with the Maison Caree, a temple dedicated to Augustus in the city centre. We then went to the Arenes, an amphitheatre which would have seated 24,000 people in its heyday. After lunch, we headed towards the Tour Magne, a large tower which was part of the ancient city walls. After a walk through the park and a well-deserved ice cream, we hit the hotel swimming pool before dinner.

Provence Day Four

Provence Day Four

Another hot day in the South of France. Today we crossed the top of the Pont du Gard, visited the beautiful town of Uzes and toured the local Haribo factory, leaving a few minutes for some retail therapy in the Haribo shop. Happy birthday to Noah who turns 13 today - the hotel treated him to a second dessert with a sparkler!
