Ireland Surf and Turf - Days 1 - 3

Day 1
Up early to make the Aer Lingus flight to Shannon.

A three hour coach drive through the stunning West of Ireland and arrival at the Delphi centre in time for a warm Irish welcome exploring the forest.

Day 2
A quick surfing lesson on the beach in the wind and rain! Lots of pupils managed to stand on their first attempt and the sun came out to bless us.  Then it was off up into the hills for a three hour hike, which followed an old route taken by victims of the Great Famine. Our guides were veritable founts of information, showing us old ruins, and the unique flora and fauna of the area such as the bog myrtle and sphagnum moss, topping it off with a couple of dead sheep which caught everyone's attention!

Day 3
Everyone was excited for more surfing today. But as the rain lashed the coach, faces started to fall. Again, we were blessed, the clouds lifted revealing the mighty Croagh Patrick and the sun shone down on us. Miss Ling declared the waves and water better than Cape Town. A quick bite now before we hit the kayaks.
