An early start from Heathrow prompted a few yawns but Saturday's travel has gone smoothly. We were greeted by sunshine and 29 degrees when arriving into Madrid airport, then quickly embarked on our air con transfer coach.
Stopping off in the world heritage medieval town of Avila allowed us to stretch our legs and try some Spanish cuisine for lunch. We took a quick group photo in front of the monumental, gothic cathedral then finished our journey to the Gredos Centre.

After unpacking into our dorm rooms, we enjoyed the beautiful scenery across the pine-forested valley and looked forward to supper.
