Gredos Day 5 - Updated!

Gredos Day 5

The rain dissipated during the night and we were greeted by glorious sunshine for our last morning at the Centre. Bags were packed hurriedly before breakfast, then some intrepid students lead yoga and exercise sessions for us all. There was just time to cool down and take a last look at the marvellous view before bidding a fond farewell to the Centre.

 Time for one last game!
 Happy Birthday!

Parador of Gredos
Late this morning, we walked down into the valley, then followed the river upstream to find some awesome rock pools where we paddled and swam. The water was freezing, although according to Dr Rogers it's bracing!

After sunning ourselves on the rocks until dry, we re-descended to a picnic spot for lunch, then hiked through the woods to the Parador. Luckily, our suitcases had already been picked up from the Centre and delivered for us.

The Parador is a splendid hotel, it was originally a royal hunting lodge and retains the wood panelling, marble columns and grand paintings. We settled in to our new rooms and made the most of en suite bathrooms, although some quickly found the games room and vied for supremacy at table tennis, pool and table football.

A grand dinner, for which we dressed accordingly, was served in the restaurant. It was an evening to remember and we all thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing about the last few days of adventure and fun. The hotel staff had made a cake for our birthday girl!
Sadly, we have to travel back to London tomorrow, with a very early start, so it's good-night from us.
