Gredos - Day 2

After a good night's sleep and a tremendous breakfast, including Maria biscuits - a very Spanish tradition - we split into two teams. Half of us walked down into the valley and completed a zip line and ropes course through the treetops.

The second group got an excellent briefing on orienteering then navigated a course through Sierra de Gredos' stunning scenery, finishing by a crystal-clear river. As the weather has been hot and sunny again, few could resist stripping off their shoes and socks to dangle feet into the cooling stream.

At 2pm, we had a marvellous "picnic" amongst the pines and gigantic granite boulders. More feast than picnic as the Centre staff had set up tables and provided vast quantities of salad, bread, cheese, salami, roasted veg, empanada and ensalada rouse, with huge slices of watermelon for desert - delicious!

After lunch, the two groups swapped over activities, with occasional cloud providing some welcome shade. The recently extended rope park now has two long zip lines for an exhilarating finish, whilst the orienteers made it back to the Centre in plenty of time for showers; although many have found the energy to play a vigorous and spirited game of 8-a-side volleyball.
